Brush & Bloom: Watercolour Paint & Sip

Our recent watercolour Paint & Sip with local artist, Trudy Keenan, was such a special evening at the Terra Cotta Community Centre. It was wonderful to see mothers and daughters, friends, neighbours, and both familiar and new faces gathered together for a night full of creativity, conversation, and laughter.

Trudy is an incredible teacher, and her many years of experience truly showed throughout the evening. The class was approachable for all skill levels, and for many of us who were complete beginners, it was the perfect introduction to watercolour painting. The first half of the evening focused on learning techniques and practicing different brushstrokes, blending, and texture work before moving into our final pieces.

For the second half of the class, everyone created floral paintings inspired by birth flowers. Some guests painted their own birth flower, while others chose to incorporate their mother’s flower or create meaningful combinations of both as an early Mother’s Day keepsake. Every piece turned out completely unique and personal.

As the sun poured through the hall windows and the room filled with florals, colour, wine, refreshments, and conversation, it truly started to feel like spring. There was such a relaxed and welcoming energy in the room, and it was especially nice to meet some new community members while also spending time with many of our regular supporters.

Thank you so much to Trudy Keenan for sharing her talent and passion with us. We learned a lot, laughed even more, and left with artwork we were genuinely proud of.

We already can’t wait to do it again. 🎨🌸
